Wenger teme por Ashley Cole
El Chelsea fue acusado el pasado mes de marzo de realizar aproximaciones "ilegales" al jugador del Arsenal Ashley Cole. Ahora, una comisión independiente ha entrevistado a Cole, Mourinho y el director ejecutivo del Chelsea Peter Kenyon. Mourinho ha negado que él y Kenyon se vieran con Cole diciendo que estaba en Milán hablando con Adriano, el jugador del Inter. Cole, cuyo contrato termina en 2007, nunca ha negado que el encuentro tuviera lugar, aunque las circunstancias son difusas.
El técnico del Arsenal teme que Cole se vaya a final de temporada al Chelsea, según los últimos rumores publicados por Arsenal-Mania. Wenger se pregunta
"Do you really think Ashley Cole gets the phone and says: ‘Hey, Peter Kenyon, come on, I am organising a meeting at the hotel, bring Mourinho with you and I will bring my agent and we will have a nice meeting.’ " (Crees realmente que Ashley Cole pudo coger el telefono y decir: Hey, Peter Kenyon, ven, estoy organizando una reunión en el hotel, traete a Mourinho contigo y yo llevaré a mi agente y nos divertiremos)
Más adelante Wenger reflexiona:
"Sometimes the players go somewhere and they are told the chairman of Real Madrid will be there and they find they are facing another agent who will want to negotiate between them and Real Madrid." (En ocasiones los jugadores van a ver a alguien que les han dicho que representa al Real Madrid, y cuando llegan allí resulta que es sólo un agente que quiere hacer de intermediario entre ellos y el Madrid).
Por supuesto Cole lo niega todo de momento.
